Just wondering if anyone knows how to run the diablo 2 demo on mac osx without classic... because i do not have classic and am thinking of getting the game but want to try the demo first. I'm quite certain it can be done as i am remember playing the demo ages ago on OSX. I have the updates and the native installer for MAC OSX but the updater does not recognise the demo only the full game and the native installer has no demo option only the full game and the expansion pack? any ideas?

I don't know about the Demo, but there is an OS X installer for both DIablo II and Starcraft on the Blizzard website. Just look in the patches section for each game.

Edit: sorry, just reread your post. I really don't think that you can patch the Demo. I think you get to play it as is, and that's it.

There is a OS X installer, I used to play a bit of Diablo 2 on my iBook. But I'm not sure if it works for the demo, go to Blizzard's site and download the installer to try

just to let you know... Its going to look crap, the game is stuck at 640x480, or if you decide to get the expansion, 800x600.

That was the reason I stopped playing it, even on my iBooks small 12" 1024x768 display, it just got too annoying having a black box wasting most of the screen. Stretching is not an option, it makes the game look horrible

thanks guys, i geuss it isn't possible afterall, the mac osx installer as i mentioned before as the native installer for MAC OSX only works with the full game and the expansion LOD. Oh well, thanks anyway.
