iDVD doesn't like .mp4? What the...?

So I am trying to put together a simple little DVD from a collection of little movies we have here.

I am using iDVD, and adding movies one at a time, then dragging the .avi onto the marker - no wirries.
Then I have a .mp4 movie that I try to treat the same, but iDVD teels me it doesn't know the .mp4 format, and it is unsupported.

my questions
1: Why doesnt it recognise mp4?
2: Is there an easy way around this?

cheers, gringo
and, go Hawks! yeah!!

ah, d'oh!
See, I use VLC to view all media, and it works fine. So I checked the mp4 in quicktime, and sure enough, doesn't work. So there's something screwy in te file that QT can't deal with, but VLC just carries on boldly..

Another reason I use VLC...

What version of Quicktime are you using? I'm using 7.1.6 and it handles .mp4's fine...
