Hi,

I have just downloaded firefox and apon download it auto placed some icons in the trash and left a couple things on my desk top.
On my desk top there is a white icon that says firefox, but when I drag it to the trash it shows an eject sign.

Which icons do i keep and delete?

Cheers.

Upon downloading, a .DMG (Disk Image) file should automatically mount. Drag the Firefox icon to your Applications directory.

You can now 'eject' and delete the .dmg - all you need is the FireFox application in your Applications directory.

What you described is a Disk Image (.dmg). I really have no idea what they are, but much of the Mac software comes in that form. You need to keep the program with the coloured icon (the best way of describing it), and then drag it to your applications folder, which will house the application. After the dragging, just trash the disk image, and forget it even existed.

Edit: Damn Snax, 1 before my post!

The white icon is a disk image and that is what it is - an image of a disk!

Just drag the contents to the Application folder and it will vanish next time you start up if worried about trashing it.
