Question How to edit start up apps in OSX

this is something thats really frustrating me as every time i turn on my computer windows messenger for mac logs me in though i use adium and its on my dock. i also have a few other little apps such as ByteController that does open on start up... in fact when i went to sleep and just closed my macbook i woke up and bytecontroller was gone . i allways customed my start up in windows so it would launch allot faster using MSCONFIG, is there some kind of similar thing in osx or how should i go about configuring it so i can choose which apps launch and which wont.

thanks

System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items
Some apps will have an option in there own prefs aswell.

System Prefs -> Accounts -> Login Items is what you want I think.

Some apps will automatically put a login item into Accounts -> Login Items without asking. Skype is one of them.

Just something to be aware of.

I have a problem where NONE of my startup apps load on startup! Had this since I formatted and installed my new drive, and on top of that, a lot of my system preferences don't save!

In particular the mouse button bindings for Dock & Dashboard, spotlight and all other keyboard shortcuts.

The latest version of TinkerTool will do this too, with a few extra options.
