Question Open-with (right click) and there's two of each app?
Hrm, for some reason, whenever I right click on say, a PDF file, and scroll to 'open with', there's two of nearly half the applications there...?

Any idea how I can remove them?

Use TinkerTool to delete your launchservices cache. Pretty sure that's the one. Or just delete all the available ones. It may slow a few things down in the short term but won't otherwise hurt.

I've got Tinkertool open, but the option to delete launchservices cache isn't there under any of the tabs...?

Oops - sorry! It's actually Cocktail that I was thinking of. Under System, the Misc tab contains an option to Rebuild Launch Services database.

I should have verified this first - my apologies.

Not a permanent solution though, as has been discussed here before.

It gets confused on my machine everytime i hook up and un hook my cloned external drive.

Maybe they can sort this out in Leopard.

Hmm. Doesn't happen regularly to me. I have copies of most apps on a second internal drive, plus multiple copies of my Applications folder on an external backup drive and I've only had this problem once, recently. I wonder what triggers it...
