OS X Remote Access

Hi there,

Can anyone who has their mac handy please tell me the option in either Network or Sharing where you can enable remote access to your mac? I'm at work on my winblows laptop and i need to get access to my mac at home for a bit, so i was hoping to either remote desktop or vnc into it. I remember there is an option to enable this on the mac, but i can't remember where...

also, what ports would i need to get opened on my router to enable the traffic to come through to the mac? my gf is at home so i'll have to talk her through it.

cheers all
mike

WHen you go into sharing and turn on 'remote desktop' for apple remote desktop, you have an option 'allow VNC users to control this machine by using 'this' password!

ARD is build on VNC! If you need more information on how to find this, let me know, but you should be able to find it easily!

cool thanks for that.

so as you say ard is built on vnc, does that mean it uses the same 5900-5905 port range?

No problems. Sometimes ARD clients play up though, so you may have to use a certain one to connect etc. Hopefully some of those issues have been ironed out. I generally use ARD for most things.
