Possible Leopard Release Date Leak?
Forum member, Boxhead sent me an interesting message just a few minutes ago:
Hey, This came accross my desk here in London, Its an advert for a digital print expo being run in Birmingham on the 1-3 of May 07. This part was of particular note:
12.00 Introducing the very latest Mac operating system
Apple has improved the worlds most advanced operating system: Time Machine, Mail, Spaces, Dashboard, Accessibility and more and well show you how.
Found on this page http://www.digitalexpo.co.uk/page.cf...=m/goSection=8
Spose it'll be announced proper sometime in april.. with trade shows demoing it to the public soon after????
Anyways thought you lads back home would like to know!
Leopard, in April perhaps? Let the rumor mill grind!

Um... I know that a new OS release is exciting and all... but... it's not as if it's the release of OS XI... How much can they really improve? Or rather, what's to get so excited about anyway?
I guess I'll never be what my marketing lecturer called the... um... trend setters... more of a luddite me...

A lot.
I doubt it's a case that after releasing an OS Apple goes back to the drawing boards and goes, "What can we do now?"
Oh no, they would have a road map. At the end is the true Mac OS X they want to achieve. Along the way are the incremental steps Apple are taking to achieve this goal. Every step is getting bigger and bigger.
Who knows what Apple has planned in the pipeline.

How that reads D, it sounds simply they'll be looking at the features of the new OS, pretty much like we already have.
I'd prefer to see it say:
12.00 We're launching the very latest Mac operating system

A friend was talking about Vista after having a "play" with it...
He said, and I quote, "Why'd they have to go and make it like OS X?"
My reply was... "Mmm... OS X.. released around about 2000... Vista released 2007... Yeah, that's about right. Usually takes Windows 7 years to catch up."

Steve Jobs announced at the worldwide developers conference in '06 that Leopard would be released in the second quarter '07, that is 12 days away.
According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_v10.5
there have been 7 developer previews so far, last one on 1st March.
Hopefully that is the last preview and the final release will be April 1.
