merging mail accounts from 2 comps in to 1
Hi
I've been using Mail.app on 2 machines for quite a while now. Personal e-mail accounts and messages on one, with my work account and messages on the other.
Now that I have a new MacBook Pro I'm ready to retire my old personal machine migrate everything on to a single computer.
I can copy the mail directory from my ~/library/ directory on to my new machine and then use the import option in Mail.app. If I do that however everything is put in "regular" folders e.g. if have sent messages appear in a sent folder nested in the appropriate accounts inbox. I'd much rather have a more complete way of migrating so that it gets the accounts and sub folders in one go, otherwise I have to create corresponding accounts manually. I also want a technique that is completely foolproof. Also when I used the built in import option it listed about half the messages but when I went to view them each one just had a short message about how I had to go online and connect to the account to view the message. This sounds like something that might happen with an IMAP setup. The other snag with that is I can guarantee that some of the messages will not be on the mail server, and some of the accounts don't even exist any more!
Any suggestions?! I'll consider buying shareware or whatever to get this done.
Thanks!
