I have an eyeTV 410, with v2 of the eyetv software. I have just been fiddling with the editing features of eyetv and found you can export in various formats, including mpeg. Previously i have been editing my content in eyetv and then opening toast 7 and recording it in toast. From toast you can export as dvi. Both export formats seem to take about the same time to complete.
My question is, while I can simply create dvds for use on my lounge room dvd player (until I purchase an eyehome), does either mpeg or dvi create compressed images that will play on a standard dvd and if so, is one format superior to the other?
