folder/email backup/restore in Apple Mail 2

bit of a curly one,

Okay, I backed up a user's folder full of emails onto disc, so I could delete it (As it's taking up heaps on the server... they're using imap)

anyway...is there any way to drag/drop the .emlx files back into say a folder "on the mac" so that it can be visible on the hard disk in Mail?

Looks like you got the answer from the apple support discussions.

That guy David Gost helped me with some questions when I wanted to import some mail from another computer.

You can copy the messages over from one hard disk to another obviously but to be useful the mail is required to be imported into the program. It doesn't seem that mail is all that friendly with drag and drop without importing.

Its very hard to identify what the messages are from the .emix number particularly when Mail redates each message when you rebuild the mailbox.

You also can't just double click on .emix and get it to open. It ain't all that user friendly when you want to shuffle the email messages around.
