ok so i want to install bootcamp on my partners MBPro. i've got a legit copy of xp pro but i'm wondering if i can make a backup copy, i hate using originals- for fear of damage.

question: can you make a bootable disk with toast. i know from past experience that in order to make a backup of osx you need to uncheck the optimize on the fly box. does this stand for xp.

i'm using toast 7 by the way. keeping in mind that i don't have my copy of nero here so it would be tough to try and make the backup when bootcamp is installed.

hope that makes sense.

cheers

If you just want to dupe your disk which is already bootable and has SP2 slipstreamed in it, then by all means just use the CD/DVD copy function of Toast.

It should do a 1:1 copy and work fine.

yep that's the idea, any ideas on the optimize on the fly thingy, or is that not a prob with 1:1 copying. last time i did that because it was burnt from a disk image.

cheers

Dont tick optimize I dont see why you'd need it and it might cause a problem on the end copy. At the end of the day though, cdr media = CHEAP!
