Having moved from a Linux samba server to OSX.4 server I am dissappointed to find that Apple removed any form of network trash/recycling.

Samba 3.0 has the capability of using a VFS module entitled 'recycle' which provides a similar function. Apple don't seem to have included this even as an option.

Has anyone here tried compiling just that module to add over a OSX.4 server install?

I'm keen not to mess too much with Apple's pre-built samba (ie don't really want to compile an entire fresh install of samba).

Any advice welcome!

PS: While we're talking recycling - anyone got a fix for AFP and a network trash? Also had this working on my Linux box netatalk install and missing it! JMD

Unfortunately, my searches there suggested that there is no network trash method for AFP.
