My mum just asked me if i could print out just the text she had highlighted on a webpage. Thinking that this would be easy (i can remember being able to do it 10 years ago in IE!), i proceeded to show her just how easy it would be.

Na-ah.

Safari doesn't do it. Camino doesn't do it.

Can anybody tell me how to print just the selected text? It shouldn't be that hard, surely!

What fiark says or - hold down Shift-Command 4. Drag over text with left mouse button down - release button.
Print resulting Picture#.png on Desktop from preview.

Yeah, that's what i figured, it can't properly be done.

'Tis a damn shame, this is the first 'Windows can but Mac can't' situation i have encountered in 4 years! It shouldn't be that hard, really, and is something Apple should get their act together on.

I'm pretty sure Firefox has support for highlighting then printing from a selection. If not from a context menu, then from the Print menu.
