HELP!

iTunes (6.0.1) keeps on opening every 3 mins or so, even after i have fully quit the app. i've unsubscribed from all podcasts, disabled sharing, disabled looking for remote speakers with airtunes and also disable "look for new updates" .......

...this is getting really quite annoying, and i really want this to stop.

....has anyone had this issue in the past? if so, how did you fix it?

John

Although I'm not going to be much help, this happened to me a while ago. I also had problems with Limewire opening at unexpected times. Safari also seemed to crash a lot.

All I did was to repair permissions, and run a bunch of other maintenance programs.

Open Disk Utilities, select your main volume and press "Repair Permissions" in the lower right hand corner. I suggest downloading Onyx or Cocktail from version tracker and using the maintenance utilities provided there.

Open up /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and see if the console is showing any messages indicating what is opening iTunes. Maybe you have music sharing enabled or something like that and someone locally or otherwise has a machine that's looking for shared music?

Do you have any other apps or processes running that may be trying to open itunes?

If repairing permissions and other maintenance doesn't work, try logging out and then logging back in while holding down the SHIFT key (hold down the key before pressing log in) this will stops any apps, background apps and processes from loading at log in.

If itunes stops opening on its own then it might be a rogue app or process that is opening itunes.
