Default Nano Lanyards

I'm an obsessive lanyard fan, having used one every year since the first Nano was released. Apple intended it to be worn back then, and the 2nd-Gen Nano got a modified lanyard too. By the third, year, no lanyard. I rang Apple and they said that the lanyards were not selling. That year I got away with a first-Gen lanyard, which fit perfectly. Last year, I had some of the dock connector hacked off and that worked too.

Apple's really screwed me this year, however. They've flipped the dock connector and headphone port, so if I use my lanyard, which will fit, the channels will be reversed as I'll have to wear it backwards.

I'm thinking that with no options available, a lanyard will have to be custom-built each year to suit the new model.

Are any of you fans of the lanyard? Have you ever used one? Would you consider using one? I like it because the Nano is always available, can be glanced at, volume adjusted, etc., without having to put it away. It's the reason why my Nano is my number one iPod and used for all audio on the go. I don't use my iPhone as an iPod because the lanyard experience is so good.

I'm interested in hearing what this community thinks on this subject.

Personally, I reckon lanyards are dorky as. So I don't really care, but it sucks you can't get what you want. Are you sure there aren't 3rd party (iWorld, Cygnett, Griffin etc) lanyard you can use?

now that you mention it. I'd like a lanyard for my nano 3rd gen. I haven't used my nano for almost a year (since I've had my iPhone), or has it been a year already? who knows.... I just took it out of the draw and charged it up. I'm gonna load it up with kids cartoons ready for my trip east later in the year for my little one. (i have a video out cable, we can plug it in to the hotel/apartment TV to keep her entertained)

I wouldn't mind using it for music again, it's small, light, and will save me some iPhone battery (which is so precious!)

lanyard please!

I had a lanyard with my 2G nano and loved it. I haven't used a nano since, but if I were I'd definitely want a lanyard. It's a shame they're not making them anymore

Your 3rd-Gen fits the 1st-Gen lanyard perfectly. Here's a post I wrote about it.

The bitch of it is that Apple had the 1st-Gen lanyard on the online store a few months ago but they're gone as of today.

Griffin had one way back in the 1st Gen but I don't think it came out here. I've seen solutions that are a case and usually they turn the Nano around, making it useless for neck wear. Cases are an abysmal approach.

Unfortunately it didn't catch on as an idea, even though the Nano has always been engineered to be worn, as the headphone port and dock connector have always been on the bottom. I think it's going to take a custom solution. I have a friend who's done a lot of surgery for me in the past. I'll see what he thinks.
