Quality of CRTs

Hey,

This is a random question. But I notice my eMac CRT is of a significantly higher quality than my iMac G3 screen. It's much more sharper, and my imac G3 screen is a little blurry on the corners.

Well, I haven't got to the question yet, so here it is :P

1. When Brand New, were the iMac G3 screens comparable to "new" CRTs (I.e mine has just degraded over time, or have the quality of CRT screens just got better in the last 7 years?) I don't see how they could have sold a screen with *any* blurryness component so I'm guessing it has just degraded.

Both. I've bought an iMac G3/400 brand new, and an eMac 1GHz brand new. Within 3 years of buying the iMac, it'd blurred a little - quicker than other CRTs I've owned, although once it reached that level of blurriness 5 years back it doesn't seem to have become worse.

It still wasn't ever as clear as the eMac though.

CRTs do blur over time, some worse than others

The emac used a flat CRT screen while the G3 imac did not. That makes a bif difference in picture quality. Limits distortions.

I am still using a 19" Diamond View CRT. I personally love it and it has as great clear picture. I paid big bucks for it back in the day.

And I've been using 2x Mitsubishi Diamond 19's for the last three years.
One screen died about 3 months ago - and strangely enough, the other is going to die before too long.
I loved them while I was using them BUT to have them BOTH die within three years is 100% unacceptable!!
From now on - there is no such thing as a quality CRT so I'll look to high quality LCD's. If Apple updated the ACD I'd like that but I'll stick w/ Eizo for quality (for now) and Dell for bargain screen real estate.
