New iMac cpus
I noticed that the previous Al iMacs had mobile intel 'T' chips, and expected them to move to the T 8 series, like the penryn MBPs, but, it looks as though Apple's decided to put desktop chips in, the E8200 (2.66GHz) for example. Just curious, I thought, also since the mobile penryn 2.4GHz has 3MB of L2 cache, while the iMac 2.4GHz has 6MB. Any opinions?

Where did you read that iMacs have the E8xxx line of CPUs?

I'm pretty sure the desktop CPU's put out a fair bit more heat, I didn't think the imac cooling was up to it?

System profiler, and common sense looking at the 2.4GHz iMac. In system profiler, it informed me that my 2.8GHz penryn was an E8250.

My 3.06 doesn't really say anything about what CPU it is, just it's specs.

Where in ASP does it say anything about the chip aside from clock speed and L2 cache?
The MacBook Pros have 6MB L2 cache. Does not have desktop processors.

That's partly right.... but partly wrong:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor. The 2.5 and 2.6 have 6mb L2 cache

Hey guys.
Sorry I've taken so long, but here's a screen shot from dxdiag for my iMac core2duo E8235.
If only I could post it somehow:P

Clearly it would help if you could post it. Use the [ img ] [ /img ] tags (and host it on imageshack.us)

No, the previous iMacs at least had their cpus soldered to the motherboard, and the penryn models most likely do as well:P
Anyway, here's what you've all been waiting for... a screen shot of dxdiag! Using Black XP of course
