I think it is Windows/Boot Camp reading your internal configurations wrong. Just like when you take an ordinary desktop PC and run OS X on it it comes up as a Mac Pro.

I dunno about that, since BootCamp was designed by Apple in consultation with Microsoft, unlike a cracked version of OSX. It would be uncharacteristic of Apple to make that big a blunder, then again, look at the mediocre refresh for the MacBook/Pro range. Overpriced and disapointing:P

It appears that yes, Apple are using a modified version of the E8xxx line of CPUs. Traditionally, the iMacs used laptop/mobile CPUs, but with the latest batch of Intel desktop CPUs, the thermal output can be handled by an iMac and of course, there's no power usage requirements for an iMac as it's not a portable machine. Apple would be getting these CPUs cheaper than their mobile counterparts and they probably perform slightly better too.

Just one question completely off this subject: How the hell can I become classed as a regular?

You've been here more than 3 months so you just need another 50 or so posts.
