Question Best Price For New iMac's Ram?

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of getting a new iMac and wanted to find the best price for it's memory. I'm looking at getting 4GB but finding it hard to find the memory let alone a good deal.

The SO-DIMM 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM spec ram is still pretty new so is there anywhere close to the Melbourne CBD people can recommend I try?

Any online stores people can also recommend?

Thanks everyone.

Maybe not the best price, but the best service I've ever had.

OWC. Prices in $USD.

4.0GB Kit (2.0GB+2.0GB) PC2-6400 DDR2 800... (6400DDR2S4MP) at OWC

This will be under $200 AUD as well.

Wow converted to Australian dollars that is $126....but i can't find anywhere about shipping to Australia.

Has anyone got experience with these guys? What if the Ram is DOA do they swap if sent back?

Thanks

Add it to your basket. Then you can tell it to ship to Australia using FedEx, UPS, etc... very good rates even factoring in shipping. You will get it in a few days (fast!).

I have ordered RAM off them on two occasions now.

If the RAM is bad, they will replace it. Yes, send it back, they'll swap it.

But that's not SO-DIMM, which is what the iMac uses (i.e. laptop RAM).

I thought you needed 200-pin 800 MHz SO-DIMMs.

Like decryption said, some good quality OCZ ram isn't a bad price.
I found some 2GB sticks at OCZ 2048MB PC2-6400 DDR2 SODIMM RAM - 5-5-5-15 (76816 | OCZ2M8002G) | Techbuy Australia for $75. They are CL5 too.

some real dirty cheapos can be had closer to the $60 mark, but I wouldn't go near them.

Holy moly - check out this ebay dude's store: eBay Australia Shop - fastmemoryman: DDR RAM, SODIMM, DDR2 SODIMM
2gb sticks for $30.
some brand name stuff in there too for cheap.

Wa wa wee wa! Check out the price of this 4GB kit from that same ebay seller!

Ebay link

Is this guy for real, this mean I could get 4GB shipped to aus for under $100. His feedback rating is huge too.

Note - he's selling PC5400 667MHz SO-DIMM RAM.

The recently updated iMacs (2.4 - 3.06 GHz) use PC6400 800MHz SO-DIMM RAM.

Caveat Emptor, as always.
