I have an odd problem.

Every now and then I have torrents set to start in the middle of the night (at 2am) I leave the machine on (as Transmission does not wake it from sleep).

When I check it in the morning nothing has happened, I have a look at the time and it has stopped at some random point. Last night it was 12.06am.

Everything is frozen, I can't open new applications or force quit open ones (in this case transmission, but it has also happened with eyetv) and eventually I have to manually restart the machine. Once it starts back up it is fine.

It's an iMac (17" iSight) PPC running Leopard with 2.5GB RAM.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Applications/CheckUp.app/Contents/MacOS/CheckUpAgent

Sounds like CheckUp.app is interfering, check that one out! (I think its an Apple App, after a bit of googling)

Check your Software Update, make sure everything is up to date..

Well I meant, reinstall it

Last night in order to fix the problem I had to reinstall the App causing the problem, CheckUp by app4mac.com.

Delete the .plist using terminal and then trash the app and restart. When I finally did all of this in the correct order the constant message in the console stopped.

No freeze overnight last night!

Can't say I recommend the CheckUp app.

I am getting the same thing happening to me over the past couple of nights. Checked the logs and nothing looks out of the ordinary....

I haven't checked the logs...

But I often leave my machine on overnight downloading torrents and when I go to wake it in the morning it wakes up but the time has frozen like at 10.45pm and i would've gone to bed maybe 15-20mins before that. The mouse still works but you can't start any applications and nothing else is responsive. Cant force quit either. Having to do a hard reboot. I have tried many different sleep display options and reset the smc and checked permissions etc...

Any ideas?... how should i check the logs?

I to have had the same issues with Safari freezing the problem was fixed after reinstalling transmission I am using Ver 1.22 build (6189)... works fine now...
