The Twenty-Fourth Anniversary Mac

Say "hello, Mac" to the Twenty-Fourth Anniversary Mac.

One *very* neat Mac mod, a Macintosh 512 that runs OSX (uses a Mini), uses an LS-120 drive as its floppy, and uses the original 512's keyboard & mouse. The case is unmodified, and sports ethernet/FW/USB via a breakout dongle.

Wow.... The things some people do amazes me... I mean... I make HyperCard Doctor Who databases, I write tables comparing internet prices, I obsess over Apple's responsibilities to eMac owners... but this... Wow.

Very cool idea. Very impracticle... I couldn't imagine going back to using my TAM's 12.1" screen full time... yet alone 9" grey... But - cool.

As you say cosmichobo , impractical - yes , but Oh so cool.
Way to go Brains.
I'd love this setup in a Color Classic.

As near sacrilegous as it sounds... and despite my earlier comment... I'd love to deck out my a TAM with a newer computer's logic board etc...

I think they interviewed the guy on retromaccast recently about how he made 24th Anniversary Mac. Really interesting how he made the USB interface talk to the old keyboard.

It is a nice job, but I am a sucker for this mod.

The workmanship on it does look great, but it is a waste of a classic machine. (unless it was dead, of course)
