8800 gt PC flash ?

hi
could I like.. get a geforce 8800 GT Ultra or something to work with mac pro ?(bought late 2007, 1ste generation NOT 2nd)

cuz I'm sick of waiting for the lazy asses of Nvidia and apple to get a decent graphic card for my mac pro (2x quad xeon 3.0)

could I just buy a PC card and flash the bios or something ? and if I can, well.. HOW exactly do I do that ?

Yeah, the answer is no. You can flash a particular PC version of the 8800GT to work in the 2008 Mac Pro but it will not work in the original Mac Pro.

I just hate apple right now and I "was" the biggest Apple fan I knew :P

cuz I payed 5k (euro) for my mac, and after like 4 months they bring a new one ? and then they sell the graphic card that I was planned to buy from the beginning to only work with de "2nd" generation mac pro's ?

well.. I called them and asked how much it wil cost to switch my mac pro with a 2nd generation MP with the exact same setting but the only diference is the PCI slot ... 16x > 2.0..

and it costs more dan 2k euro !!!! WTF

apple is just pissing me AND allot of other MP owners OFF

You're not the only one.

However, Nvidia have said they are working on a special version of the 8800GT for the original Mac Pros after seeing the strong demand on the internet.

Bide your time, an 8800 to suit your beastie is not far away.

I wouldn't rush.... there's a bug in the 7xxx and 8xxx Nvidia drivers for OSX (at least for Leopard). It causes your entire system to occasionally.... crash.

yeah but thats using old bios technology. nothing to do with EFI. 10.5 worked on a hackintosh with 8800gtx.

The 8800GT mac cards use EFI64 which aren't compatible with the previous mac pros which are EFI32
