Disk Imaging w/ iMacs at work (bit of a pickle)

Okay, so here's the scenario, we roll out new iMacs with a few different builds (ppc & intel, 10.4 and 10.5, so we have about 4 or so different images we use). DMG files made from disk utility.

The problem we've been having on a few returning to us, is when they boot up, it firstly takes ages (on 10.4 machines that is), to load up the services (the bar before the login screen), and then it sits there with a blue screen (no haxies/apps installed like that).. mouse is moving, but that's about it.. We've left it there to try to get to a login screen and either it does, and none of the usernames/passwords work (by default they're set to come up with either autologin to their generic account, or a list with the users and they click to decide). So we're stuck on what's causing it, what'd cause it, and how to fix it.

If anyone can shed some light on this scenario for us, would be muchly appreciated. Thanks muchly MTAU'ers!!!

Any interesting errors if you hold down command-v at boot? I'd need to know more though about what those images were created on and what particular software set-up is needed that you're using this method.

Thanks for getting back to me, there wasnt anything "odd" in verbose from what I noticed, it's occuring AFTER the verbose stuff I guess... The way we created the images was by plugging the imac into a mac mini whilst in target disk mode. and did File - New - Image from folder.

Bit of a breaking update :P --> Just booted into Safe Boot, and the logins are working fine, about to try a reboot to see if that'll keep them this time!

update again: Safeboot was fine, but regular login failed still hangs at the blue screen before the login screen...

Actually I notice also, that when going to single-user mode, it did sit for a little while at "CSRHIDTransitionDriver:robe booting in single user .. do not match"

Because, I will be using it after I make a brand new build... but yeah I'd be very intrigued to see what'd cause this problem to occur.
