Red face Buying first Mac Pro

Hi,

New to Apples, but very happy with the MacBook Pro i used recently.

So, looking at getting a Mac Pro (desktop) with a decent vid card and ram, with a view to a fair bit of amateur, yet fairly memory intensive, video editing, compositing, and 3d work.

Only worked with PC's before, up to about 2 gig of ram. what do i need in this mac pro?

Should I go for better vid card, or extra ram? not sure if all the specs can be compared to PCs

also, should i wait, is a new MacPro on the cards, or should i wait for leopard to be fixed?

any help would be much appreciated!!

Rumors are saying that a new Mac Pro will be announced at Macworld 2008, so I would be waiting to see what's new. Thats what I am doing as I am in the market for a Mac Pro too.

With regards to Leopard being fixed? not sure what you mean... works gr8. Millions are using it around the world.. what exactly is wrong with it that needs fixing?

If you're doing video editing - then as far as I'm aware the video software doesn't have an issue w 10.5.
THe only possible problem has been with a very small number of Adobe programmes.
As for waiting for a new MacPro. Wait! I am. I expect, as Seon said, that new ones will be announced very shortly (if not Macworld - then not long after).

I don't think Mac Pro will be updated seeing as MacWorld is usually just consumer products.

I've just finished a film degree at university... Their quad core Mac Pros had 8GB of RAM each... and ran Final Cut Pro pretty damn well...
