2.8 Extreme Ver. Who's got'em???

Hey all,
Long time reader....first time poster..yadda, yadda..
Also, long suffering PeeCee user who's finally made the big switch. I've ordered the '4th Option'.....iMac 24"/2.8ghz Extreme/500gig hdd/2gig ram....the one that still says 3 to 5 biz days delivery. I ordered last Wednesday (8th) and the suspense is killing me...haha....can't wait!

Just have to add that I love the new design....evolution more than revolution, just like all the great design houses. Think of the great German car makers (Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, Vee-Dub), they start with a great design and just keep tweaking & refining each subsequent revision....that's what I see when you stack the new alu/glass iMac up against the ol' white iPod lookin' one. It's still instantly recognizable as an iMac....just a slimmer/classier/more modern version.

But, before I forget.....HAS ANYONE RECEIVED THEIR 2.8ghz 24 INCH iMac YET!?!?!

Just 2 cents....

I got my 2.4 build, same specs as yours, today. Ordered on the morning of release. 2.8 was too rich for my blood - maybe if they had a 512MB graphics card in it or 3GB standard...

No-one has them yet.

They cause a delay on order from anywhere. At least another week if not more.

Metro areas would be next day, non-metro areas two days or more.

I ordered mine as the lower end 24" + wireless keyboard and it got delayed to the 29th of September. I called them up and found out that the wireless keyboard was creating the delay, but it'd be another 7-10 business days until the iMac alone was able to ship. I cancelled the order :|

Check Apple.com - you'll see that the bluetooth (wireless) keyboards are not yet available.

As for the 2.8Ghz 24 inch iMac's that you are waiting for - they are built to order rather than stock items. Hence the delay... if you want them fast you'd have to pay some poor wee Chinese folks to never leave the factory!

Apple seem to be taking the view that the 2.8 model is going to be a bit of a slow / low seller - and they are probably right - the premium on it is quite a bit. Let's all face it we'd spec it with the 1Tb HDD if we could - and then stick 4Gb of RAM in there too. £2198 is a lot of cash. Ok so it's just as bad, if not worse in AUD!!!! $5028.

One word of warning to you guys - they whole system seems to be a heatsink. I've played around with the 2.4Ghz models and they get H O T!

Well unlike my MBP I suspect I won't be using the iMac on my lap.

it's a 44 watt 2.8ghz laptop chip.
Maybe they could put it in a 17" MBP one day. Although it uses quite a bit more than the 34 watt 2.4ghz.
Still Intel laptop gear is good.

Hate this waiting.....driving me nuts..

As much as I hope that mine turns up sometime next week, I'm laying a hypothetical $10 bet that I actually get it early the following week.....let's say Mon.27th....anyone else here care to speculate the date that your 2.8 CTO shows up

It will come with 2x1gb so you would have to replace both with 2gb sticks
