It won't be recognized as a native AirPort card, it uses an Atheros chipset, you need a Broadcom chipset.

I have an ASUS WL-167G USB dongle on one of my machines. Frankly, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy - it's given me nothing but intermittent performance, drop-outs and hassles with the crap s/w supplied.

I tried the USB Asus WL-167G on my PM G4. It didn't work natively for me. I installed Asus Mac drivers but was unable to configure it in the 10 minutes I tried. Worked fine on my PC- a lot better than the crap Dlink PCI card i had been using.

Since my card (Netgear WG311) is an Atheros chipset and not a Broadcom, is there any way to get this working under Tiger 10.4.11? Or will I have to find a Broadcom chipset?

I know about OrangeWare but I'm not really interested in paying for a driver?!

Can anyone recommend a cheap/reliable PCI wireless antenna that will work on a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver (733MHz)?

I have just fiddled around with using a D-Link DWL-G122 rev C usb wireless adaptor with the Ralink drivers on my powermac G4. The drivers are shite and the interface is rubbish. I managed to get a PCI wireless card (MSI MS-6825) which has a broadcom chipset, plugged it in, booted up and voila airport icon showed up and I was connected almost straight away. It's not too difficult to find one second hand, I got mine on the Overclockers Australia - Latest OCAU News forums, you'll see one every month or so for sale.

As does the Asus WL-138G v2 - Works out of the box with OSX (Broadcom Chipset) - and can be had for $25 new at MSY

update, upgraded the Powermac to Leopard which broke airport. The airport logo appears in the menu bar but is hollow and won't allow me to switch it on. The card I used isnt MSI, it is Minitar - my mistake. The chipset is Broadcom BCM4320.
