Exclamation Disc tray will not open

A CD-R containing divx files was inserted into an iMac power pc with the operating system 10.4.10. The computer does not recognise the disc even exists and it cannot be ejected. This includes using the keyboard eject button and the eject button in disc utility. I have heard there is a method of overriding this system and ejecting the disc but I do not know how to do it. Please help as this means that I can no longer backup the hard drive.

Is there a emergency eject hole on these drives (sorry I'm a switcher) if so insert straightened paperclip and push to open the tray if the press on boot doesn't work.
