T'was down at my apple store in Sth Melbourne to check up on my Powerbook, and discovered that they have Mini's in stock! The impulse buyer in me was ready with the credit card, but it needs to have more Ram... Now I'm a big fan of not cracking open a new toy until after the warranty expires, so I asked them to put a ram stick in it so that it has a gig to play with. The nice man went out the back, and came back to say that the techs don't have a tool to open the unit without damaging it

I realise I can do the ram myself, probably any tech can, but this was totally impulse driven, and when I couldn't get the Ram, I began to think straight again, and walked out.

PS. Anyone who does want a mini, there are at least a couple in Sth Melbourne at comp now. And you can have mine!

I've read in a few places that Apple consider opening the unit for memory to not void warranty no matter who did it.
You should have bought it - it's a great little machine even with 256M. The Mac I had before this was the dual G4 1GHz back when that was top of the range. Now it might be that 10.3 is a huge improvement over 10.2, but I remember that 1GHz duallie with 1GB as a fair bit slower than this mini (now also 1GB).

(edit: of course if you break something while you're adding memory all bets are off)
