Advice on my new imac

Hey everyone!

ive just ordered the new imac 24"! i havnt really used a mac in 5 years cos i had to switch when i got a free piece of crap. so ive just got a few questions and it would be sweet if anyone could help me out!

1) Which is the best USB TV card? one of the reasons i got the Imac is to plug my xbox into it - would a tv card be worth it?

2) Ive ordered 2gig Ram, can you upgrade in the future to 3gig or do you have to go straight to 4?

3) ive got a Belkin wireless net set up which is set to a 128 Hexidecimal network key, are macs compatible with 128 or will i have to change it to 64?

4) do you recomend using a Surge Arrestor power addaptor even if i have a clipsal on the mains power?

Cheers for reading!

1 - Elgato EyeTV I can recommend. Diveristy model if you want 2 channels at once recorded. get IceTV as well.

2 - Either.

3 - Either but as said WPA2 is recommended. The new Airport Extreme would do that for you. Get the Gigabit model that only just got released if you do that.

4 - Yep. Belkins are everywhere and I use those. Because I want my wireless phone, modem and wireless router to work during a blackout I even got a small Belkin UPS for under $200 which also functions as a surge arrestor and has a spare un powered but protected port for something more draining like a computer.

When it comes to EyeTV the hybrid has inputs for gaming consoles as well. As well as other RCA compatible devices. It only has a single tuner though. Mind you I like it. It serves me well. I recommend ICE tv also.

looks like im gonna have to get the old credit card agian for the Elgato!

anyone else use it for Xbox360? i read some user reviews on it on the apple site and some say that it flickers when using it for games, but still love the HDTV.

i think i may get it for the Eye TV anyway, the 24" is twice as big as my TV!

later. cheers for your help!

You'll probably want some good 100% black out curtains.
