Well, I ordered a CTO top end MBP for a mate which arrives today, so I am glad nothing was released today, or I'd be sending it back

Know one really knows. It has been a long time since there has been a genuine mac pro update so it has to be coming at some point but it could be months away still

Mate- if you need it for professional work then buy now- the only updates i can see will be a small speed bump/ CPU revision/ or transfer back to non FBB RAM.

Buy now and enjoy the goodness of MAc Pro (tm)

A Mac Pro is no home computer- so won't get POINTLESS cosmetic "point of sale" revisons like the iMac.

What are they going to do?

Pull non-existent processors out of thin air?

I've been waiting for GPU revisions more than anything. Given I need to run Apple specific videocards I don't want to buy and then find the new $800 card is released shortly afterwards.

GPU revision and price drop is what I want.

GPU revision without a price drop will probably lead to me building a Hackintosh.

VV HD2600 is worse than the X1900

Surely new GPU's are around the corner. The new iMac has a more powerful GPU than you can option the Mac Pro. ATI 2600 vs x1900

no, it doesn't. The x1900XT is more powerful than the 2600.

2600 does give better video processing capabilities, and dx10 - and the latter is useless on the mac.

going from the x1900xt to the 2600pro / xt would be a step down.

I haven't seen the testing. I assumed the next generation cards would be faster.

will be for freelance design work at home, so isn't huge pressure to wait. Though it's killing waiting. Now were in mid cycle since the last mac pro update and i know if i get one now the next day the new model will come out - be just my luck. May be all for only a small cpu increase but it's an upgrade and the current spec look a tad tired.

The upgrade of the GPU for me is important to. As the X1900xt is so old! i will want to boot up xp at some stage to play a few games. Plan on getting a 24" lcd, for some wide screen gaming!

Guess it's back to the bench and wait and see a while longer when apple decide to again send our heads spinning with a new product update...this time hopefully the Mac Pro will get a fancy update as the iMac did. With the Lepoard launch approaching we can only wait and see

I wouldn't call the X1900XT at all poor for gaming! If you're a Quake 4 addict, then OK.

I thought someone wrote drivers that allowed any NVidia card to work in a Mac Pro?
