Wow, some people are going a bit overboard on this firesale
The 30" ACD is already at $2384, which incl fee and shipping will drive the price to $2780. A new 30" ACD is $2798 from the Apple store incl shipping *and* warranty, or $2499 from the Edu store...
I wonder if people know what they're bidding on...
Cheers
Steffen.

Does anyone know what these went for in the end?
Agree no warranty must know 30% of RRP

Not sure but i wouldnt mind betting some things went for above retail with the premium and postage added. I've never really seen any decent deals at grays when it comes to macs

Thanks iSlayer. Looking at how much the most recent sale has jumped this morning already I think you might be right.
Without warranty paying retail or near retail would be insane.
On the upside it means our Mac's maintain a decent amount of value

These are graded as Catergory B items meaning moderate soiling of the boxes at least.
Still not quite sure if people realise there is no warranty as stated.
Crazy auction prices...

Some bargains can be obtained on old second-hand Mac items, but clearly whoever is bidding on this soiled stock are dickheads
Still, it's such a rubbish site to use.

Maybe for Mac stuff, but I think it's pretty good for other stuff - if you know what you are buying and include the fees.
Over the last few years I've bought 3 Sony products that were current stock and included the ability to buy an extended warranty. One of them was a 76cm TV that was still a great price after including buyers premium and shipping from NSW to Vic.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Grays. Certainly feel a lot safer than eBay!

I've noticed Grays often have multiple auctions for gear from the same source, like we are seeing now with the Designwyse stuff. One Auction closed yesterday and another one starts up immediately. They dribble the stuff out in batches to get better prices, rather than auction 12 MBP's all at once, they'll offer them in 3 auctions.
I didn't see the final prices yesterday afternoon, but even earlier in the day, the bid plus 15% buyers premium was very high. They've even included a link to the online Applestore so there is no excuse for paying too much, - other than as Byrd says above, being a dickhead.

Yes, I think the insurer is doing very well on these firesales. At prices like some of those paid there for gear without warranty and soiled cartons there's going to be tears somewhere down the line...
Cheers
Steffen.

last price I seen for one of the 17" was around $3450!!! add the extras and it would be close to
the $3995RRP....madness people absolute madness
also greys may be good if you are in melb or syd, but postage to perth is very exy
and adds too much to the end price

Sounds to me like they have someone bidding the prices up and if no one bites they put it on the merry-go-round tomorrow. Surely no real person is bidding that much

Maybe but i think some people simply dont read the bit about premiums. It makes no sense that people would pay those prices if they had read it.

not really. i think what happens is that all the money that the buyer bids goes to the seller and the 15% on top of that goes to the auction house. it is how they make their money. but then, you just have to factor that in to the overall price you want to pay - if someone else is willing to pay more... well, that's just the nature of an auction, isn't it?
