Absolutely correct. The VGA connector was introduced with this model (400MHz DV). Sadly, the 350MHz models do not have one.
@ the OP: I think $50 for a 266MHz iMac is quite a bit too much (they really are in the realm of gift machines these days). For $50 I'd expect at least a 400MHz model (which has the added bonus of firewire ports) and 256MB RAM. Even then I feel that this would be the upper price limit.

I'm going to drop the 266 machine and go with the 400mhz machine with 128 ram, 10gb hd and 10.3 It's got that slit in the front where the cd-rom goes. (not tray loading.)
I'm paying a little over 30 bucks for it. So I don't think it's too bad. I'll be upgrading the ram and quite possibly the hard drive. Maybe an external hd if I can find one that works.

So with my Imac G3 I pretty much just want to use it for internet, office 2004 and maybe listen to the odd occassion podcast, BUT what about basic photoshop work? Like making avatars, banners and stuff? That would be too much on the G3?

It'll work, just be slow. The more RAM the better for this, and a fast hard disk. Photoshop CS would be a good choice for the iMac.

I am looking around for some local Perth Places that do upgrades/repairs. I know someone here has a website for local Perth apple stuff, so I'm going to check that out. Definetly want to upgrade ram, just not sure about HDD as of it. Thinking of getting an external one but again with only two usb ports - not going to happen.
I hated CS, so won't install that on it. Either 6.0 or 7.0 will do me fine for the Mac, if not I won't bother with photoshop, just do it on my digital PC instead.'
What's going to piss me off about using this is that keyboard and mouse will take both of the two usb ports, so either way I gotta take one out just to use my usb to transfer files over , since both keyboard and mouse are usb non apple LOL. But I'll get around that somehow.

Depending on the keyboard you could have more USB ports available to plug the mouse into .

Get a $10 USB hub? Don't bother with an external HD, as you'll be limited by USB 1.1 speeds; painfully slow.
With regards to Photoshop 6.0 or 7.0, 7.0 should be OS X native, but 6.0 is not - you'll have to run them under OS X "Classic mode" (or OS 9 itself). For a slower machine, this will reduce performance.

LOL haha
Didn't think of the USB Hub. Thanks Byrd.
Well I need to transfer the files that i need to work on over to the imac some how, so I'll do that as soon it arrives and keep back ups on the usb.
I just wont bother with Photoshop period. Unless there is some basic image editing software for the mac that I can just use. Mainly photoshop can be used on PC. So that's no longer important.

Anywhere really - swap meets, Dick Smith, your local PC store. The cheap ones will be unpowered, meaning there is a limit on how much you can plug in. More expensive models will have a power brick to handle as many devices as it can take.

I'm not sure but it is so much faster
USB 1.0: 12mbps
Firewire: 400mbps
Also you would be able to boot off the Firewire drive too which would probably be much faster than using the internal drive..

The 350MHz iMac ShadowDan is referring to does not have FW ports, IIRC. But if it does, FW is absolutely the way to go. Faster sustained throughput than USB 2.0 (let alone 1.1) and it doesn't use up one of your precious few USB ports.
