New iMac/ Updates

I just read this and sure hope the rumour sites are wrong.

Appleinsider is reporting that Apple is unlikely to update the iMac at the Worldwide Developers Conference next week.

The iMacs are getting old.
Last Release September 06, 2006
Days Since Update 274 (Avg = 168)

I need an iMac update soon so I can buy some new ones for radiological work stations (running open source dicom software OsiriX). If there is no update then I will have to go for mac pro -not the elegant solution I want.
Heck even the MBP laptops are more powerful now.

Here is hoping there is an update soon!

I wouldn't expect them to be updated at a *developer* conference.

Perhaps a week or two later if not before. It's been done before.

Sometime before October I would imagine. But who knows, this is Apple, they can pull a rabbit out of their hat anytime. They might not even update them for a while.

I'm also waiting for a new iMac!

I know it's going to be updated, but the question is when. Personally if you want to buy something now, then waiting and waiting is no real option.

I am planning on getting an iMac 20" in the next few weeks, but waiting a few more months is not an option.

I figure I'll just buy whats out now with 256mb vram option, then drop in 2gb ram. The unit with extended warranty should do me 2-3 years no problem. If that is the case, I'll be happy with the purchase.

My wife is going to get a Black MacBook it would appear. So she is hanging out, as she hates being without a laptop/notebook.
