DDR Ram vs DDR2 Ram?

Just wondering if I get 2 x 1GB DDR2 ram chips can I use one of the older DDR SD ram chips from my non-intel iMac to get any additional benefit? System Profiler tells me the speed is PC3200U-30330.

I know people talk a lot about matched ram but I'm not sure I understand whether it would be better to leave it out or stick it in.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
M@tty

DDR and DDR2 are different beasts, not compatible with each other

So when I upgrade the DDR ram in my non-intel mac is useless?

Bummer, I was hoping to cannibalise one of my 1gb chips.

So the intel macs can't take DDR ram at all?

Intel Macs use DDR-2 RAM, which is physically incompatible with DDR RAM. This means it won't fit in the slot

Sell it; DDR RAM is worth much more than DDR2 at the moment (you can get 2GB for < $90!!).
