Replacing ram in Powermac G5?

Does anyone know if there is any set procedure for replacing ddr ram in a power mac G5?

I recently removed all the ram and after I have replaced it the mac will boot up but the monitor wont start and the dvd drive isnt responding (the monitor does work otherwise)

Am i supposed to set a reset switch (i.e. the PMU reset button)?

The pm g5 manual describes the procedure. There is no button required to be pushed afterwards.

Did you try reseating the monitor cables at both ends? did you slightly dislodge a cable from the dvd accidentally?

Why did you remove the ram? Did you suspect a problem with it? Did you properly reseat it? Was the power off and the power cord disconnected and the power supply allowed to discharge for a minute prior to removing the ram originally? Have you checked the ram since with memtest or rember?

So many questions, so little time.

are all you modules the same size? Im not sure if the G5 needs paired ram in witch case you need to match the 512 modules together and 1024 modules togther

how many "boings" do you hear after bootup? if more than one it generally describes an error with the machine (3 is ram if i remember right)

Also the ram needs to be matching pairs
