24" iMac brightness

I've just gone in to settle the youngest in his cot and couldn't see him. I had to look sideways and use my peripheral vision to see the little blighter. When I looked at his wall there was a big black square......about 24" in size

Does anyone have any ideas on toning down the brightness of the big screen. I've set brightness slider to the lowest level, reset the calibration and even given it a blue tint which has helped a bit?
The room I'm in is largish and has two ceiling lights both with 100 watt globes.

Hi - yes they are bright little suckers aren't they ? I always have mine turned down as low as can be. When I get up in the morning its dark and it really makes my eyes water to look at it until they adjust.

I dont have a software solution but perhaps you can buy or make a screen cover with tinted perspex or something to fit over it ?

Cheers,

Yep, same issue with 20 inch iMac. I'd like to swap some of that excess brightness into my iBook which is now (almost 3 years old) a bit dull!
