I wonder why it tops out at 80GB HD. Does it have notebook HDs in it you think? Suspicious.

I hope not. Will be good to get a look inside these before buying one though.
Adding a superdrive and a gig or RAM along with bluetooth/wireless and then uping the hard drive to 250GB could make this a pretty good machine.
Would be just as good as my powerbook yet for permenant use at home.

Notebook drives have hit 100gb, but of course are not cheap. If it uses notebook drive.. guess we will soon find out. Will have to get a service manual for it I think.

Given the size of this device it is a very safe assumption that it does.

I could not agree more Snax - when I saw the 'densely packed interior' picture, I immediately made the Cube connection - looks almost the same as the Cube's core. And it is higher powered and costs less than it would for a Cube these days too!

just thinking if it has got a laptop drive in it that makes it even better value considering how much the drive alone would cost

Mac mini: $799
Panther: $229
iLife 05: $119
Conclusion: When your software is old, throw the computer out.

pity you dont get iwork with it.
it would be a good idea to wait until tiger comes out also so you dont have to spend another $229 on it
the hard drive is listed on the apple site as a ultra ata drive.
