Overclocked eMacs on ebay - worth buying?

I've noticed that at least one seller is has eMacs overclocked from 1.0 to 1.33GHz.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/eMac-1-33GHz-...QQcmdZViewItem

Given that I've been generally reading positive reports of overclocked later models & that the risky part of the job has already been done for me, I'm thinking of buying one.

What do the experts here think? Good value or a risky investment?

It's for my dad...

But my question is about the overclocking rather than the emac itself.

The overclocking is generally considered relatively safe and is fairly easy to perform but more something you would do to your own machine if you were so inclined. However you should never pay a premium for such a modification IMO.

I'm with kim; the overclocking of the eMac should be fine and even though it does sound like a hefty overclock, such CPUs are within spec at this speed.

If buying this machine, I'd go over and check it out, make sure the seller puts the eMac at high CPU load before you give it the thumbs up.

I won't pay more than about $250 - $275 for it, which seems to be the going price for the 1GHz models (which it essentially is!). The consensus seems to be that the overclocking poses no stability / longevity issues, so the faster speed is a bonus.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like a good deal for the Emac, I am a little suss on the fact they are selling it with Tiger on it, especially with no Operating Software discs, Nevermind the fact that model never shipped with Tiger. (Thinks..User Licence Agreement)
