Hi Guys,

A few months ago I was looking for a Mac Mini to use as a Media Centre Computer, but I have been thinking that it might be better to look at getting G4 Tower, which will give more expandibility and allow me to put in a surround sound card, wireless etc.

Has anyone got a set-up using a G4 Tower, and if so how well does it perform.

What specs would people recommend if I was use a G4, (It would go with a 20 or 22 inch LCD)

I currently have a G4 400MHZ with 640Mb Ram, but that wouldn't work very well, or would it?

I'm mainly going to be using an Eyetv DTT USB and watching DVD]s

I'd be interested in your thoughts!

These days, you'd definately need a faster G4 to handle media - a G4 400 is capable of playing DivX movies, but it definately won't be up to the task of running an Eye TV (+ USB 2.0 card).

Seems Quicksilver G4s are good value at the moment - 733Mhz+, and can be cheaply upgraded. Although, if you can afford the Mini, I'd get one of those (or keep an eye out for upcoming hacks for the AppleTV - could be perfect for you!).
