Yeah, but if you want to do that kinda stuff, get yourself a PowerMac, not this iLC thing. Adding a video card or an audio card is way beyond the scope of the intended market.

yes shouldnt there be a lower end much lower end version of it.. plus the G5 is pretty dam expensive.. its not a thing that everyone can buy... if apple were smart they would add PCI and a AGP slot... to attract the PC people..

Maybe the Cube will make a comeback in the lower end of the market - you could basically take the old cube, ut the same processor as the eMac has in it, and voila - low end Mac (LEM). Apple just has to be careful that whatever they come up with doesn't turn out to be LEMmings for the company...

I'd love to get one of those!
Just to have something sitting at home, ready to use instead of having to drag out the iBook

I have just been reading about the rumours concerning the headless iMac.
I don't agree with the concept of the headless iMac, as it will cannibalise the sale of eMacs and does not fit within the current product lines.
If there is a new headless iMac product coming out, I would have to say it would either be an entertainment/home server. Imagine a Mac, contains a G4, chip, a small HDD with only a cut down version of OSX, dvd-rom, wireless (optional) /wired networking, a remote control, that connects to your television, 5.1 channel surround sound (like in current iMac).
This hMac will be able to connect to Macs and integrated to iTunes, iPhoto, Quicktime or VLC like player.
This would make a lot more sense then a headless iMac computer. This is about a consumer solution, with PC iPod users will be drawn to this concept over Media PC. It would be easy to use, I'm guessing that it would be first released as a Mac only product, and then released into the PC platform due to no access to iLife.

Seems like a very viable option, especially for those with a PC and an LCD ready to use DVI-I with a low end perhaps <1.5ghz G5, 256mb DDR-400, a 5200 Ultra/9600 Pro Graphics would be perfect! I doubt they would sell that for under ~800 though. Very very generally roughly double the numbers in US pricing to see what it'd be here , so im guessing they might hit $999 with the barebones!
It could be a replacement for the Emac really, for people who prefer a choice of monitors or who want a dual monitor setup. A performance progession of this new barebones mac --> Imac --> Powermac gives them three distinct target markets, and that has it pretty well covered, with G5 throuhgout
just my 0.02c
cheers,

I don't think this computer is a headless iMac as such.
I think it's the new eMac, with no monitor...

Whats going on here? The third link leads to a mock-up mac image that is exatly identical to the flattened cube image in dana's fake macs gallery, yet I dont see any credit.

I'll put my name down for one of these if they're released... I have been killing for one. It'll be good since the hardware will be Tiger supported 'n all that.
I'd like it if it had an AGP slot and a few PCI's, but if it doesnt im not gonna cry. As long as it takes standard ram i'll be happy
Bring it on Apple!

I think what Currawong meant was to have the same expandibility as the Shuttle X PC's.
The ease of expandibility. Not the heartache.

Nice mock-up. However for authenticy it should be iCenter, as Apple is in America and uses American spelling.
