emac 1.25ghz vs emac 1.42

hi guys just wondering if there's any difference in these two models bar the processor speed. Also is the graphic cards on the 1.42 model alot better?
Still looking to purchase one and am not sure which is good enough for my needs.
The 1.25 model,512RAM with superdrive used i can get for about $130 less, sold privately and out of warranty, but is it worth it?
Or the new 1.42Ghz model,256RAM Combo is the way to go with 12th months warranty? And all i need to do is upped the ram to 512?
I'll be using it to do video editing on Final Cut for uni and also 3D stuff on Maya.
Any suggestions will be very helpful guys~!

If you're even attempting 3d work in Maya, you should buy the 1.42GHz model with the improved FX 5200 graphics card.

For iMovie it'll be fine, but for serious 3D work it'd be... crap.

Why not pool your money together and buy a 17" iMac with 128MB ATI graphics card, it'd be a hell of a lot faster, and capable of more 3D stuff than an eMac.

Or search eBay for any G5+ computer (Intels included). [or a very high-end PowerBook G4 1.67GHz]

Then you should go for the 1.42GHz eMac, and load it up with as much RAM as you can afford (2 GB would be good)

Can the 1.42ghz combo drive be replaced easily with a superdrive?
also is the ATI RAdeon 9600 in the 1.42ghz model alot more superior than the 1.25ghz's 9200?

Yes - it supports Core Image amongst other things. It'd be a lot smoother than the 1.25GHz model.

And the Combo drive is upgradeable - applecollector will tel you how, as I have no idea.

Yes i sure can.
It's easy you have to take the case off but to replace it your warranty will be cancelled!
