Hi Guys,

EDIT: yes G4

Just picked up an old G4 ibook and it's suffering a cronic attack of the slows.
Where would be the cheapest place to pick up a 512mb so-dimm.
Also can use an airport extreme card too.

Much thanks

Is this for a G4 ibook, or G3? Topic says G4.

if it's a g3 ibook then you can only use the old pcmcia airport cards as they do not have mini-pci slots. Also, they take the same ram as PC notebooks so any computer shop that sells pc133 sd ram for notebooks will do. Just don't get the cheapest stuff cos ram is very important!

If it's a g4 then I think they have mini-pci slots and take DDR266 so-dimms. Again, any computer shop for the ram.

Take advantage of the weak US dollar - go to www.memoryx.com and look up your machine. RAM from these guys is really quite cheap and shipping is only US$9.

An old G4 iBook?

You must have rapid hardware turn-around cycles if you think a G4 iBook is old already :-)

Second Hand.
It's only 800mhz so I guess I'm three models behind already.

Maybe I'm missing something here Kogi, but I thought the G4 iBooks were release sometime in October of 2004?

I thought I must have got something wrong :-(

What happened with the current models? Was it just a speed increase for the G4 processor?

Maybe there was a video card upgrade in there as well?
