[Merged] mac Mini to Conventional TV

I'd like to connect my mac mini to my old CRT (composite input), had a look at the apple store and they have two products but they both seem to do the same thing, so which one do I need?
a) Apple PAL DVI to Video Adapter
b) Apple DVI to Video Adapter

is it an intel or ppc mini
only the ppc mini will work at 16:9 ratios
the adaptors are the same, they may differ by defaulting to pal or ntsc resolutions on insert but both do the saem thing
i could sell you one cheap if i can find one lying around, i returned my intel mini cos it couldnt do 16:9 on my widescreen CRT

If the monitor outputs in PAL format (Australian Standard) then you'll want the PAL DVI Adapter. On the other hand, if it's NTSC format, just the normal DVI will do.

It's hard to tell what the display is without more info, but look for mention of PAL or NTSC on the back of the CRT, as a start.

How exactly? Mine's running through my 16.9 CRT and it's stretched and annoying!

It really looks to me like the Intel Mini was intentionally limited so the AppleTV could offer a proper video experience 9 months later and encourage people to buy both...

Just have to set the right resolution, might need to use a 3rd party app but can be done

You guys trying to get your mini to power a wide screen tv. Check the forums at 123macmini, plenty of info there. In the end it does come down to what model TV.

http://www.123macmini.com/

Myself I am happy for my mini to power a 20" cinema display & then buy Apple TV when avail.

I mainly use my mini with a 20" cinema display as well.

How would I connect my Core Solo mini to a Sony KV-XF25M30?

Mini with old TV?

I'm going to get a Mac Mini next week and would like to have it plugged into my living room tv so i can watch my media on it..

i didn't even think until just now that this might be a problem..
my TV is not a plasma/ LCD, just a plain old boring box tv from way back in the 90's....
i assume the Mini will not come with the appropriate plugs for this but is it an easy task? is there a quick and easy solution?

TJ

EDIT - Sorry guys - i have just found a thread on this so this one doesnt need to be here... i'm not sure how to delete this thread though.
oops!

Merged your thread with the old one. Might effect a useful "bump" so more people learn about it.
