Default HELP: nano erased after senuti!

hi all

i am extremely frustrated and angry when i discovered that my friend's nano was totally erased after attempting to extract with senuti!

nothing was exctracted except the album folders without the music files! the nano will show playlists and track names, but won'tplay! when going to the about menu, there is only 25mb used out of 2.7g that was in there! the 2.7g is missing, and it's showing full 4g capacity available!

i feel like crap, and i want to get my friends music back!!!

is there a way into looking into the flash memory sub menus and recover the music?
bloody senuti!

please HELP!

cheers

Might that 25mb just be the library data?

There is nothing on senuti documentation about the possibility of this happening?

If the nano is only showing up with 25mb used, the music is no longer there. It's strange because I've never had any issues with Senuti erasing iPods like that.

He will just have to wait until he gets back from traveling and re-sync his library I think.

senuti only copied the music folders without the audio! i don't know what happened but it's strange.... when his ipod appears in itunes it says it's 2.7gb full and all the playlists and music names are there, except when you select to play a track (!) appears infrontof it! maybe the nano needs resetting........ why would it still show full capacity in the itunes info?

When you have the nano plugged into your Mac, click the iPod icon on the desktop and press Apple+I.

Does it say that there is 2.7gb used?

i suppose the music is lost forever.......... could someone do a "data rescue" on the ipod?

beware using senuti! it may erase your ipod without copying the music files!

Hi I had similar problem with my Ipod but in the end I had found my files in my computer, its seems like it was copied to the wrong folder, do search for all .mp3 files in your computer maybe you will find it.

There is also a great tech support site with live free chat that you can use maybe they will have some good ideas. Here is the page for apple ipod support

Good luck

it is unlikely that senuti was the cause of your problem, though I guess it does help to blame something. I think, maybe that your friends ipod tried to sync with your itunes library when you mounted it, and you just then cancelled itunes to stop this. This would explain the missing song files, yet still the album structure.
I have seen this happen before. You must NOT let itunes launch if you are mounting another persons ipod onto your machine, because your preference settings in itunes will start to override the ipod and start removing the files to sync it up with what it sees as the 'correct' library.
Senuti , of course, then just read empty files, ... so you had nothing to copy.
It is an easy fix, by just getting your friend to re-sync his ipod back into HIS computer, and the songs will be replaced.
Hope this helps explain what might have happened.
- walden.
