Default Telstra rep on iPhone

I recorded this from ABC local radio in Tasmania this morning. The guy's name is Phil Burgess, he's Telstra's "Group managing director for corporate affairs". Only short, but I thought people may be interested. Here's an mp3 of it.

Agreed, the only thing I agree with at this point is, that Telstra are about the only network that can support (at decent speeds) everything on the iPhone, but hopefully, but the time it starts shipping here, that will change!

I'm not sure apple have said anything about bettery life have they ?
Even if they have we all know that figures Apple give are not necessarily what you will really get anyway so we need to wait till its released to see what its like

My guess is he doesn't

Edit: if the iPhone is Telsta only, then count me out.

The iPhone has a poor battery life eh? Sounds like he's trying to promote other brands, which might mean...

<jumps to conclusions>
  • Telstra have to move a certain # of black berries, which is why they get promoted
  • Apple are 'negotiating' (shafting) with telstra on the iPhone still, and Telstra isn't used to being the bitch in this kind of situation.
  • The iPhone is contracted to a non-Telstra provider.

On that alone, i'm not going to bother straining our companies Internet connection to listen.

I'm guessing, not so good comments?

Dunno about the rest of you, but I'm pretty sure I'd be docking the iPhone daily anyway!

That particular blackberry gets 4 hours talk time. Apple claim 5 hours for the iPhone.....

battery life is about the only thing im really concerned with, although, i mean, the nokia 8800 doesnt have the greatest battery life either... and i still love it.

Here's hoping the extra sensors (light and motion) actually do their job to conserve battery life... and that the iphone doesnt become the more modern version of the original "3" (the company) phones.... 4 hours on standby...

If Telstra were working with Apple on supporting visual voicemail - a prerequisite for being the local provider, surely - then they wouldn't be bagging the iPhone. This is a good sign IMO. My money's on Vodafone or Optus, more likely Vodafone.

Also, I seem to recall seeing a writeup recently which said that the iPhone's battery life is actually better than what Apple claims in their specs - like most iPods.

[*] The HipTop3 is coming, we've ordered a bucketload, and they cost the same amount as the iPhone. Discredit iPhone as quick as possible!
