Hi Jal,
One can't buy a new faster processor to replace an older processor. Yet there is a process known as: Over-Clocking - which is a manual hardware procedure.
Send a message to Natakim on the subject. He loves that stuff.
Other here will naturally know more also.
cheers,
ClockWork

errr... no.
You can buy G4 upgrades - for Powermacs and Cubes.
I'll find you the links to the products, and australian resellers.
edit: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/encore_stg4.html
That is one of three manufacturers of these type of upgrade cards. I think freescale themselves might even make them?? I had considered this option when i was playing with cubes a few years back.
Streetwise used to sell them, though they don't appear on their online store anymore, so give them a call to see if they can still get them in.

Just make sure the machine is compatible.
There are some G4 450's that can't take upgraded CPU's. While there are others that can, but not Dual Processor upgrades.

Blue and white G3's are so simple to overclock and you can do a small overclock in complete safety with a G4-400 also.
For my 2 cents i'd be overclocking. The cost of an upgrade would be huge and you could just buy a bigger badder G4 and swicth all your gear over from your 400.

No-one mentioned fastmac.com. Nice products; ship to Australia and good prices.
Overclocking is different but an option for the likes of me, Byrd, Atomic as well as others here.
cheers
