Hi,
This problem may be linked with a problem I posted earlier, titled: FireWire Shananagans.
My Powermac G4 Quicksilver Dual 1 GHz came with a Pioneer SuperDrive. After downloading Mac OS 10.4.6, I then replaced it with a Pioneer DL SuperDrive.
Here's the problem:
I'm using it to burn data to Verbatim DL DVD-Rs. I have been able to successfully burn information to DL DVD-Rs using the following methods:
Straight drag n' drop into Roxio Toast 7.2.
Using Tiger's Disk Utility, to turn a folder of info into a read/write, into a read-only, into a compressed, and into a DVD/CD master - .cdr / .dmg - and then either burn straight from Disk Utility or mount into Roxio Toast Titanium 7.2.
It all works, and when it's done, I can see it, open it, and copy from it - BUT... it will not be seen by any other machine. Only my Powermac G4 can mount the finished DL DVD and copy from it.
All other machines spit them out, and can't even mount them on the Desktop.
What am I doing wrong?
Or.. if one could refer back to the other problem I posted entitled: FireWire Shananagans - has Mac OS 10.4.6 something to do with this and the FireWire issue.
I am still to test DL DVD Data burn to "DL DVD+R Discs" to see if that makes a difference... but really it shouldn't.
If I put in one of my home burned DL DVDs and compare it, through the System Profiler, to - let's say, Apple's iLife '06 DL DVD, there is a difference! The iLife '06 DL DVD shows Volume Information in the System Profiler, whilst as one of mine doesn't!
Is it me - or is it the Powermac G4?
Have not seen this problem anywhere else, nor on Google. Other forums mainly focus on burning video footage, and not data.
All help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
ClockWork
