I don't know why Apple doesn't have the BT option like they have the airport extreme or RAM? Surely with their sales of BT Keyboard and Mouse they'd want people to purchase the BT Kit later on!

I think there are actually 2 versions of this mod and ones uses the internal connector designed for Apples own BlueTooth adaptor.

I remember looking into that when the new airport card first came out, it's not as simple as a interface mod. from memory ( scratchy at best ) one uses a pci type bridge, the other uses a pcmcia one, in short you can't do it without some major modding.

Well, an AirPort Extreme is mini-PCI, and the only laptops that have mini-PCI support the AirPort Extreme already. Just save yourself the trouble and buy a PCMCIA card :P
At least the PCMCIA card will let you attach an external antenna if you want to go wardriving

Well it depends, you can carry around a 15m pole and you'd get a long range :P
Or if you want something portable, you can get something like this: http://www.quickertek.com/products.html

I think apple should make 2 slots available of the same kind used for the AirPort Extreme card, so you can use one for AirPort and one for BlueTooth. Plus then if new BlueTooth standards come out you can just pop in a new card.
Another idea: you could use the two 'slots' to install two AirPort cards and get OS X to aggregates the available throughput for 108Mbps, some base stations support this now...or have two separate wireless channels, one for AirTunes and one for your network.
Cheers
