Is it possible to stream video from a Mac Mini in one room to my TV in the other?
If so what is required?

yes there are DVd players that do this but i am told the image transfer isn't great if the distance is greater than 10 meters. You will need a wireless network.movies not wires

You can get other devices that will do it, however ( IMO ) it is the most flexible and reliable and cheapest way of doing it, pick one up second hand, and if it hasn't been modded, you can flash mod it yourself.

yeah, an xbox, head down to your local cash converters or ebay, if you don't feel confident modding it yourself, keep an eye out for one that had already been chipped/softmodded, download a copy of the latest xbmc ( xbox media center ) and your good to go.
I also have a snazzi net cinema dvd ( and all in one set top box for dvd & playing .avi's e.t.c ) and the xbox beats it hands down IMO, and at a 3rd of the price. I Don't even use the snazzi anymore really.
