Hi folks,
My local store has one eMac left for sale - this is the latest and last eMac with SuperDrive, 512MB RAM etc. The asking price is $1299.00.

Is it worth getting or shall I wait for the tax cheque and get an Intel iMac??

Thanks

What do I want to do with it???

I guess download music, Office 2004 (Mostly word docs), a bit of web maintenance, Civ 3 and Civ 4 when it comes out, e-mail and plenty of surfing.

Not too demanding I suppose but I don't want to be looking for another replacement in 12 months time...

A friend at work as an iMac G3 600 and it runs Tiger and all of the above (except Civ 4 or course) with ease. So I'm thinking a G4 should have a little bit of life in it??

Many thanks

I've got an eMac 1.25. Can't comment on games, except that the eMac screen res is v good, but it will certainly do everything else that you want to do with it. 512mb ram should be considered the min required, but you can fit more ram yourself in about 2 mins, so thats not a problem. As with all tools its whatever is the most appropriate that you use, but unless you are modelling the universe in real time the emac will be fine.

PS you may have seen the poster in real estate agents offics that has a really old man and the caption 'this is the young man who waited for real estate prices to come down'. Changes in computer technology are so fast that no matter what, or when, you buy there will always be something newer and better available the very next day. If this machine meets you needs then buy it.
